The International Conference on Migration and Development was held in Clermont-Ferrand with the support of the GDRI IDE Network. The purpose was to investigate ways in which international migration affects economic and social change in developing countries.
During the conference, the journalist of Ferdi’s WebTV met two members of the Scientific Committee. Frédéric Docquier, Professor (Université Catholique de Louvain, Ferdi) analyse the factors of migrations and how migratory movements will evolve.
Simone Bertoli (CERDI, Université Clermont Auvergne) explain how migrations stimulate innovations in Developing countries. Also, he stresses the fact that a vast majority of migrants move temporarily contrary to the common belief.
